Saving the world
One of the main focuses behind the creation of Sugar Taco was to utilize the exciting concept of making a real difference in the world. We believe that good food and good ethics can go hand-in-hand! Our motto is, “Saving The World One Taco At A Time”, and we understand that in order to educate others, we must first become the change. You too can become the change you want to see in the world!
We Practise What We Preach!
We have partnered up with companies like Food For Life Global and Million Dollar Vegan. Sales off our menus provide plant-based meals to hungry children around the world, and 100% of the proceeds of our Dog Menu go to a different animal welfare charity each month. We have joined up with companies like Imperfect Produce, Food Cycle LA and Epic Renewal to make sure we are walking the walk and not just talking the talk. The sales of our reusable glass containers and our plant based menu items have already saved over 61,000 animals, nearly 68 million gallons of water, 2.5 million pounds of grain, over 1.2 million pounds of Co2 and close to 2 million sq ft of forest!!
Every decision, every piece of equipment and décor, and every item on our menu has been chosen on purpose, and each of these choices has been made taking into consideration the impact it has on the environment, animal welfare and our health. All of our takeaway and delivery orders are minimally packaged with no utensils or napkins and no separate condiment packaging is used. All our takeaway packages are biodegradable except for the hot/cold cups which are compostable. The in-house serve ware is all reusable and was bought second hand, along with most of the décor in our restaurant. We encourage all drinks to be bought with our reusable glasses which are labeled with, “Together we can save our oceans. Say adios to plastic with Sugar Taco”. These glasses are free with the purchase of a large drink and can be brought back in for a discounted beverage.
How You CanMake A
There is nothing more rewarding than speaking from your heart and making a real difference in the world! There are so many ways you can be part of this movement, and you can start by eating at Sugar Taco. Since opening in May 2019, we have saved over 100,000 square feet of forest/land that would have otherwise gone to animal feed crops; our menu items choices have saved over 4 million gallons of water, 74,000 pounds of C02 and thousands of animals’ lives!
There is truth in the statement, we are living on this planet like we have another one to go to. We are now producing 300 million tons of plastic each year and of that, over 8 million tons are being dumped into our oceans. Our oceans are being depleted and could be empty in only a few decades. Our land is being destroyed for animal feed crops and palm oil products. We are polluting, exploiting and destroying what we claim to love, and we all need to come together and make a change!
How can you help:
The biggest effect you can have on the environment is to practice a plant-based life. After only one month, you will have saved over 33,000 gallons of water, 900 square feet of forest, 1,200 pounds of grain, 600 pounds of C02 and about 30 animals lives-WOW!
